Nothing Wrong If Father And Son Have Issues – Fubara

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Wednesday, expressed optimism that the political crisis, involving himself and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, will be resolved.

He said there is nothing wrong for a father and a son to have problems, stressing that all issues, if any, will be resolved.

The governor spoke when the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, led a military delegation to the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

Fubara restated President Bola Tinubu’s resolve for peace and security in the country, especially during the off-season elections this month.

The governor said, “For our dear state, I know everybody is wondering what’s going on, what’s not going on. We are okay, there is no problem.

“If we have an internal issue, it will be resolved and everything will go back to normal.

“There is nothing wrong if a father and a son have a problem, if there is any problem, but I don’t think there is anything, whatever it is, we will definitely resolve the issue.”

The governor, who assured the people of the state of getting the dividends of democracy, said he would speak on the matter at the appropriate time. “Let me assure the people of Rivers that I will continue to ensure that you get the dividends of democracy. At the appropriate time I will address the press,” he said. We had reported that a fresh crisis engulfed the Rivers Assembly amidst rumours of an impending impeachment procedure against Fubara as the House on Monday removed its leader, Edison Ehie. House members subsequently fled for safety as tear gas was fired outside the Complex. Addressing his supporters, who protested the development outside the Assembly Complex, the governor said he has not done anything to warrant an impeachment proceeding by the Assembly. The development occurred hours after a fire broke out at the Assembly Complex on Sunday night. It was unclear if the fire was connected with the political imbroglio but rumours of a rift between Fubara and his predecessor Nyesom Wike who is now Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister have been brewing for some time now.

Wike finally reacts to crisis in Rivers Minister of Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike has finally spoken on the crisis in Rivers State. Wike, who handed over power to his protege and the incumbent, Governor Sim Fubara, spoke to the press on Tuesday.

The former Rivers helmsman spoke after the governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) met in Abuja on Tuesday. According to him, the main opposition party has taken over the matter. He insisted it was in no way an ethnic issue, as some people had speculated. There were claims on social media on Monday suggesting that what is going on in Rivers has some ethnic colouration as a clash between the Ijaws and the Ikweres. DAILY POST reports that the Rivers State House of Assembly attempted to impeach Governor Sim Fubara between Sunday night and Monday morning. The PDP National Working Committee and some governors elected on the party’s platform, such as Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Caleb Muftwang (Plateau), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), and Ademola Adeleke (Osun), among others, met in Abuja earlier in the day. “In politics, there are lot of internal wrangling. But you’re not going to say that because there are lots of internal wrangling, they’re not going to settle among themselves,” Wike said. “I was the instrument. I had every power then to say where things should go. When things are wrong, you ask questions. It’s a party affair. “Parties know how they resolve their own mechanism. It’s not an ethnic affair. Our party is looking into it. That’s what I’ll say. Every politician has his own interests,” he said.

Reps Summon Naira Marley, Mohbad’s manager over Royalties

The House of Representatives has summoned controversial singer Azeez Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley to appear before it.

This was part of moves to secure proper compensation and royalties for late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba (Mohbad) musical works.

The House Committee on Justice, Youth and Legislative Compliance, also invited the manager to the late singer, Jiggy Adeoye to an interactive session slated to hold next week Tuesday.

In a letter dated October 26, 2023, signed by the Committee's Clerk, Barr. Yusuf Ibrahim, the House said both Naira Marley and Mohbad's manager were needed to guide the committee on further legislative action.

The letter reads: “The House Committee on Justice, Youth and Legislative Compliance invites you and the legal team of MOHBAD for an interactive meeting session as regard a referral received being a resolution of the House of Representatives during their plenary session on Tuesday 26th September 2023 with respect to the circumstances surrounding the royalties and other benefits of Mohbad and to ascertain the level of your interaction with other relevant copyright organizations, such information will guide the committee on further legislative action.

“In view of the above, you are kindly invited for an interactive session with the chairman, Committee on Justice, Youth and legislative compliance scheduled as follows;
